The Bank of Russia will issue commemorative coins «Hedgehog in the Fog» from the series «Russian (Soviet) Animation» on September 23, 2024:
— a silver coin with a face value of 3 rubles (catalog number 5111-0510),
— a coin made of steel with a nickel coating with a face value of 25 rubles (catalog number 5715-0003),
— a coin made of cupronickel alloy with a colored coating with a face value of 25 rubles (catalog number 5015-0072).
“Hedgehog in the Fog” was directed by the world-famous filmmaker Yuri Norstein in 1975 at the Soyuzmultfilm studio. The touching image of the hedgehog has captured the hearts of both adults and children. The film has become truly iconic for many generations not only in Russia but also around the world. In 2003, at the international animation festival in Tokyo, “Hedgehog in the Fog” was recognized as the best cartoon of all time and nations. The film has received over 40 awards in total.
Description of the Precious Metal Coin
The silver coin with a face value of 3 rubles (the mass of precious metal in pure form — 31.1 g, alloy standard — 925) has a circular shape with a diameter of 39.0 mm.
Both the obverse and reverse sides of the coin have a raised rim along the edge.
The obverse side of the coin features a relief image of the State Emblem of the Russian Federation, with inscriptions «RUSSIAN FEDERATION», «BANK OF RUSSIA», the denomination of the coin «3 RUBLES», the date «2024», the designation of the metal from the Periodic Table of Elements by D.I. Mendeleev, the alloy standard, the trademark of the Saint Petersburg Mint, and the mass of the precious metal in pure form.
On the reverse side of the coin is a colored image of the hero from the animated film «Hedgehog in the Fog», standing on a hillock, created in relief, against a background of a foggy landscape, made using laser matting technique; at the top left along the edge is a raised inscription «HEDGEHOG IN THE FOG».
The edge of the coin is ribbed.
The coin is made with «proof» quality.
The mintage of the coin is 7,000 pieces.
Description of the Non-Precious Metal Coins
The coins made of non-precious metals with a face value of 25 rubles have a circular shape with a diameter of 27.0 mm.
Both the obverse and reverse sides of the coins have a raised rim along the edge.
The edge of the coins is ribbed.
The obverse side of the coins features a relief image of the State Emblem of the Russian Federation, above which along the rim is the semicircular inscription «RUSSIAN FEDERATION», framed on both sides by double rhombuses, to the right is the trademark of the Moscow Mint, below the emblem in the center is a three-line inscription «BANK OF RUSSIA», the denomination of the coins «25 RUBLES», the date «2024».
On the reverse side:
— the nickel-coated steel coins feature a relief image of the hero from the animated film «Hedgehog in the Fog», standing on a hillock, against a background of a relief-made landscape and fog; at the top left along the edge is a raised inscription «HEDGEHOG IN THE FOG»;
— the cupronickel alloy coins feature a relief and colored image of the hero from the animated film «Hedgehog in the Fog», standing on a hillock, against a background of a relief-made landscape and fog; at the top left along the edge is a raised inscription «HEDGEHOG IN THE FOG».
The mintage of the coins:
— nickel-coated steel — 850,000 pieces;
— cupronickel alloy with colored coating — 150,000 pieces.
The issued coins are legal tender on the territory of the Russian Federation and are mandatory to accept at face value for all types of payments without restrictions.
