In Tatarstan, the first international cyber exercises of the BRICS countries have concluded.

In the cybersecurity exercises organized by the Bank of Russia, representatives from the central banks of seven member countries participated.

For several days, the participants practiced skills to counter current information security threats. Each team from the participating countries investigated their own incident and reconstructed the entire attack chain to track down the criminals and eliminate its consequences. One of the scenarios of the cyber attack involved hypothetical attackers targeting a financial organization through a vulnerability in its service provider’s infrastructure.

At the conclusion, participants shared their experiences in responding to attacks and implementing information protection measures.

The Bank of Russia will continue to collaborate with information security experts from BRICS countries within the BRISC Channel to coordinate measures against cross-border cyber threats.

The exercises took place from September 16 to 19 at the Innopolis University. They were included in the agenda of Russia’s chairmanship in BRICS.
