The Bank of Russia 500-ruble banknote from the 1997 series, modified in 2010
The modified 500-ruble banknote from the 1997 series, updated in 2010, retains the format and design elements of the 2004 modification but with some changes in color and artistic details.
On the front side of the modified banknote, in the lower part of the left coupon field, to the left of the main image, the text “MODIFICATION 2010” is displayed.
Key differences in the 2010 modification include:
- The paper contains two types of security fibers: bi-colored and gray.
- A wide security thread is embedded in the paper, featuring a window in a decorative shape (“stained glass window”) on the front side.
- A combined watermark is located on the right coupon field.
- Thin tactile lines are present along the edges of the coupon fields on the front side.
- The color-shifting effect on the monochrome field to the left of the main image has been altered.
- The height of the digits in the left serial number gradually increases from left to right.
- On the reverse side, both the main image and the multi-colored ornamental stripe have been modified.
- Some elements of the design have magnetic properties.
- The banknote’s appearance under ultraviolet and infrared light differs from previous issues.
The banknote features two serial numbers on the front side, consisting of a two-letter series code and seven digits.
