The Bank of Russia banknote of the 1997 series with a denomination of 5 rubles
The banknote is made from high-quality cotton paper in a light green shade. The paper contains embedded violet, red, and light green fibers, as well as a security thread placed vertically and visible when held up to the light. The paper also features localized watermarks located on the left and right coupon fields.
The main image on the front side of the banknote is the “Millennium of Russia” monument, set against the backdrop of St. Sophia Cathedral in Veliky Novgorod.
The primary image on the reverse side shows the wall of the Novgorod Kremlin.

The banknote has two serial numbers located on the front side, consisting of a two-letter series code followed by seven digits.
