The volume of loans increased against the backdrop of rising collateral costs: trends in the pawnshop market in the first half of 2024.
The loan portfolio has increased by 13% since the beginning of the year and amounted to 62.6 billion rubles. Demand for loans remains stable: in the first half of 2024, on average per quarter, pawnshops entered into just over 4 million contracts. The average loan amount has increased by 8% compared to the previous period and exceeded 17 thousand rubles. This dynamic is associated with the rising cost of collateral — mainly gold products.
According to a survey by the Bank of Russia, pawnshops identify three main factors that determine the demand for their services: the income level of the population, financial accessibility, and the indebtedness of the population.
