To solve the issue of exchanging damaged banknotes of the Bank of Russia, it is necessary to apply to any credit organization that carries out transactions with cash.

If a cash officer of a credit organization doubts the solvency of a damaged Bank of Russia banknote, the said banknote shall be sent to a subdivision of the Bank of Russia for examination.

According to the Regulation on the Regulations on the Exchange of Damaged Banknotes of the Bank of Russia

According to the Regulation of the Bank of Russia dated 29.01.2018 № 630-P “On the procedure for cash operations and the rules of storage, transportation and collection of banknotes and coins of the Bank of Russia in credit organizations on the credit organization is obliged to accept a damaged banknote from a customer on the basis of his/her application for its transfer for examination to a subdivision of the Bank of Russia.

The damaged banknote of the Bank of Russia, which is recognized as solvent according to the results of the examination carried out in the subdivision of the Bank of Russia, shall be exchanged by the Bank of Russia, and the credit institution shall return its amount to the client in the manner specified in the client’s application. A damaged banknote of the Bank of Russia, recognized by results of the examination as insolvent and having no signs of counterfeiting, shall be returned to the customer

The acceptance and transfer of a damaged banknote of the Bank of Russia for examination to a subdivision of the Bank of Russia, as well as reimbursement of the amount of the exchanged banknote to the customer shall be carried out by a credit institution without charging a commission fee.

The Bank of Russia shall not charge a commission fee
