The number of individual investment accounts exceeded 1.6 million
Only for the fourth quarter of 2019, the number of individual investment accounts (IMS) has increased by 467 thousand (by 39.8%), exceeding for the year to 1.6 million units. This is evidenced by published by the Bank of Russia statistical indicators of activity of separate professional participants of the securities market for the fourth quarter of 2019. The main factor of attraction of IMS for investors are tax incentives.
The greatest number of IIS accounts to brokerage accounts and more than 1.4 million units. The Bank of Russia notes that recently the entry threshold in the industry fell sharply, customers open accounts with small investments, typically for the evaluation of investments in the stock market. Thus, according to the Bank of Russia, in the fourth quarter of 2019, the average value of the brokerage account of IIS has dropped to 92 thousand rubles, and IMS in trust to 301 thousand.
The aggregate market value of securities at depo accounts in depositories in the fourth quarter increased by 4.3 trillion rubles, accounting for 67.7 trillion. Despite the fact that the bulk of the qualifying Depositary of securities — debt instruments, which accounted for 54% of the total cost accounted for securities, the largest absolute value growth was noted on the stock due to growth of quotations of the Russian stock market (+2.3 trillion rubles, or 8.6%). At the same time in connection with the strengthening of the ruble value of foreign securities in ruble terms decreased by 0.5 trillion rubles (-5,3%), amounting to 8.1 trillion rubles.
In the fourth quarter continued the decline in the number of participants — by 2.8% to 484. The main reasons for retirement are the application of Bank of Russia Supervisory measures for repeated violations of legislation in the sphere of securities market (56% in the fourth quarter of 2019) and a voluntary application for cancellation of license (44%) due to increased competition with major participants.
